    Such pressure from society makes it difficult for men to seek help from other people especially when they are struggling with their mental health. Some people may avoid certain activities because they wish to avoid the negative perception others might have about them simply because they are suffering from flu-like symptoms. Consequently, male patients continue to receive poor health care for depression, and many of them never recover from such conditions. 

    Symptoms and Expression 

    Depression according to the foregoing findings may feature symptoms of depression in men such as low mood, lethargy and reduced desire to engage in activities that once gave the patient pleasure and this may affect the male patient. Nevertheless, the manifestation of these symptoms depends on the cultural norms of the society in which the individuals with the disorder belong. For instance, rather than expressing emotional pain, men may act out, become irritable, angry, or sullen, and therefore may not be believed or listened to. 

    Men are also more likely to self-medicate’ which often can include such things as drugs and alcohol, workaholism, and the like. They also worsen their mental health and delay the time they can seek professional help.

The presence of exercise in one’s routine and taking better meals can assist one in fighting some of the effects of depression and aid in the healing process. Other aspects of emotional health may indicate that the described practices help those men who pay attention to their health to have a more positive attitude toward life.
